3.8.2018 – Go-Ahead wins the bid to operate the Munich – Buchloe – Memmingen – Kißlegg – Hergatz – Lindau route on the Allgäu Electric Network. Operation in terms of the 12-year contract will begin in December 2021.
The Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (Bavarian Railway Company) and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport are using the expansion and electrification of the Geltendorf – Memmingen – Lindau route to commission fast local transport with electric railcars as of December 2021.
With a total of around 2.6 million train kilometres, the route is especially used by commuters and is an important connection in the region. After already winning three networks in Baden-Württemberg with links to Bavaria, this is the first collaboration with the prestigious Bavarian Railway Company.
“With the Allgäu Electric Network we are delighted to now be able to operate our fourth network in Germany, and with our high-quality service we want to win over additional passengers for our regional operations,” says Stefan Krispin, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH. “We will promptly discuss details with the contracting organisation as well as the manufacturer, so as to fulfil the needs of our customers with innovative and customer-oriented solutions. After already winning people over with our service in Baden-Württemberg, we hope to establish ourselves in the Allgäu Electric Network as a reliable and responsible partner in rail transport and become an employer of choice,” Stefan Krispin continues. “Our utmost priority is safety and quality for both our passengers and our employees.”
