Berlin, 18.12.2018 – Go-Ahead Germany has won the final bid for the operation of the Augsburg Network railways of line 1 in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
The new network will be connected to three stations which, in accordance with their contracts in Baden-Württemberg, will also be run by Go-Ahead starting in 2019. The new contract comprises 56 electric trains, which will cover 7.4 million train kilometres each year. The twelve year transport contract is scheduled to begin as of the timetable change in December 2022 and marks the fifth SPNV-network awarded to the German company Go-Ahead Bus & Bahn. Starting in 2022, Go-Ahead’s rail networks will cover a total of roughly 20 million train kilometres in Germany. The other contracts already granted to Go-Ahead start in 2019 (Stuttgart Network lines 2 and 3 as well as Network 3a, the “Murrbahn”) and 2021 (Allgäu E Network).
“With line 1 of the Augsburg Network we are delighted to now be able to operate our fifth network in Germany, and with our high-quality service we want to attract more passengers to regional rail,” says Stefan Krispin, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH. “We will promptly discuss details with the contracting organisation as well as the manufacturer, so as to fulfil the needs of our customers with innovative and customer-oriented solutions.”
