Augsburg, 17 September 2019 – After opening its Bavarian office in Augsburg earlier this summer, Go-Ahead Bavaria is reaching out to other companies in the region to introduce itself as an employer. On 17 September 2019, the Bavarian mobility provider will take up the offer from Fujitsu in Augsburg to introduce itself to their staff with a company presentation.
“We are looking for technically-skilled employees interested in working as train drivers, maintenance facility staff or train conductors in the region,” said Bastian Goßner, Commercial Director of Go-Ahead Bavaria.
In September 2020, Fujitsu will cease manufacturing in Augsburg and shift operations to Japan. In conjunction with regional stakeholders in business and politics as well as the regional employment agency, alternatives are being sought for the employees.
Go-Ahead has won two tender processes in Bavaria. This means that, beginning in late 2021, the company will be in charge of railway operations in Bavaria for the Allgäu Electric Network route. Starting in late 2022, Go-Ahead will also manage regional railway operations on line 1 of the Augsburg rail network. Go-Ahead will thus operate a total of around ten million train kilometres per year for its passengers between Munich, Memmingen, and Lindau as well as between Munich, Augsburg, Ulm, Donauwörth, Aalen, Treuchtllingen, and Würzburg.
With this presentation series, the company is emphasising its committed to more than just modern trains, safety, punctuality, and environmental awareness; it also wants to be a long-term partner for the passengers and employees of the region. Go-Ahead would very much like to enable local employees to continue working in their home region and thus remain in their familiar working and living environments. At the Fujitsu event Go-Ahead will offer detailed information on all its planned activities, individual professions, and the competitive salary it offers in accordance with the house tariff agreement with the German Train Drivers’ Union (GDL). Insight will also be provided into the features, technology, and the vehicles which will be operating in the two Bavarian networks in the future.
At home on the tracks.
