Go-Ahead Deutschland continues to grow

Berlin, 21.02.2019 – Due to continued growth over the past five years, Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland will be reshaping its corporate group and increasing its activity in Germany by establishing Go-Ahead Bayern GmbH.

Starting in 2022, Go-Ahead’s rail networks will cover a total of roughly 20 million train kilometres in Germany. The transport contracts won by the company will come into effect in 2019 in the Stuttgart rail network and the “Murrbahn” Network, 2021 in the Allgäu E network, and 2022 Augsburg network.

The transport contracts concluded for the state of Baden-Württemberg are fulfilled by Go-Ahead Baden-Württemberg GmbH, which was established in early 2017. In order to meet the terms of both transport contracts won last year in the state of Bavaria, Go-Ahead Bayern GmbH has been established. This means that the mobilisation as well as the transport aspects of both regional networks in Bavaria are now united under one company and brand.

“Through the addition of Go-Ahead Bayern, we are responding to the organic growth of our company and we seek to optimise our structures accordingly”, said Stefan Krispin, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland. “We will be a reliable and responsible partner in Bavarian rail transport and develop into an employer of choice in the two regions. As a mobility provider, we believe in creating partnerships with all other transportation companies.”

Go-Ahead ordered 22 FLIRT electric railcars from the company Stadler Pankow for the operation of the Allgäu E network in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. As of 12.12.2021, the electric railcars will be put into action on the Munich-Memmingen-Lindau route. Both the interior and the exterior of the vehicles are designed in the traditional Bavarian white and blue. This means Go-Ahead now has a fleet of 88 FLIRT railcars in total with various configurations and features.

Siemens Mobility has been tasked with delivering 56 regional railcars for line 1 of the Augsburg network. The trains will be used for the completely electric section of the Augsburg network starting in December 2022. A total of 44 three-car Mireo electric railcars as well as 12 five-car Desiro HC electric double-decker railcars will be delivered. Both train types can be engaged with each other, thus allowing for flexible adjustments depending on passenger demand.
