Berlin, 4.9.2017 – The Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland has won the bid to operate the Stuttgart-Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental-Crailsheim-Nuremberg route on the 3A network in the states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport announced this today. Operation in terms of the 13-year contract will begin in December 2019.
“We are delighted to be able to run another network in Germany with the 3A network, and we want to attract more passengers from Baden-Württemberg regional rail with a high-quality service. The fact that our competitors have refrained from taking legal action is something we consider as a positive sign for our future collaboration. Above all, this is in the interest of all passengers, because a further service delay is prevented,” said Stefan Krispin, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH. “We will now discuss all relevant details with the regional authorities and the manufacturers in order to fulfil our customers’ requirements with innovative and customer-oriented solutions. Now that we have been able to attract Baden-Württemberg with our proposal, we also want to establish ourselves as a reliable and conscientious rail partner in the 3A network and develop into one of the preferred employers. We are also looking forward to working together with all other rail transport companies in the future,” said Stefan Krispin. “Our utmost priority is safety and quality for both our passengers and our employees.”
With the rail network tender, the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (Bavarian Railways Company) want to continue the existing services on offer and further improve them by expanding infrastructure. Totalling around 1.3 million train kilometres, the network is especially used by commuters and is an important connection between the regions. Stadler Flirt 3XL railcars will be used on the route, which is a part of the future Metropol-Express network. After winning the Rems-Fil and Franken-Enz lines in the Stuttgart network, this is the third commission for Go-Ahead in Germany.
