9.6.17 – The Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland is set to receive approval to operate on the routes Stuttgart – Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental – Crailsheim – Nuremberg in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The start of operations for the 13-year contract is December 2019.
With the invitation to tenders for the railway network, the Baden-Württemberg public transport authority Nahverkehersgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg and the Bavarian rail authority Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft want, as awarding organisations, to continue and improve the existing service through infrastructure development. With a total of around 1.3 million train kilometres the network will be particularly used by commuters and is an important link between the regions. Stadler Flirt3XL trains will be used on the route, which is part of the future Metropol-Express Network. After already winning the routes Rems-Fils and Franken-Enz in the Stuttgart railway network, this is the second contract for Go-Ahead in Germany.
“We’re delighted, with Network 3A, to now be able to operate on our third network in Germany, and want to win over additional passengers with our high-quality operations,” said Stefan Krispin, Managing Director of Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH. “Once the 10-day objection period has expired, we’ll set about discussing details with the awarding organisations as well as the manufacturer in order to meet the needs of our customers via innovative and customer-oriented solutions. Having already succeeded in winning people over with our service in Baden-Württemberg, we also want to establish ourselves in Network 3A as reliable and conscientious partners in rail transport and evolve into an employer people want to work for,” said Stefan Krispin. “Our main priorities are safety and quality for passengers, but also for our employees.”
