Stuttgart, 05.11.2018 – In Stuttgart on 5 November Go-Ahead Baden-Württemberg GmbH is launching a new course for career changers who want to qualify as train drivers. Just like for the last courses there were more applications than training places! Today, 15 of them are starting their train driver training. For those who were not able to get on board this time, the next qualification course begins on 7 January 2019 in Stuttgart.
The train driver training is divided into two parts and comprises a theoretical and practical part. It lasts for approximately nine to twelve months and is run by the training provider MEV Eisenbahn-Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH. The training is certified by AZAV (the German Accreditation and Authorization Ordinance for Employment Promotion) and can be sponsored by employment agencies or the job centre.
After passing the exam, the participants are employed by Go-Ahead as train drivers. In the second stage of the training, the acquired theory is put into practice in cooperation with the various partners. In this way every participant is optimally prepared for his or her future role as a train driver in the Baden-Württemberg rail network.
From June 2019 Go-Ahead will take over operations in Baden-Württemberg on the Stuttgart railway network and the Murrbahn network as of December 2019. With its latest-generation, wheelchair-accessible trains that run on an appealing and reliable schedule, Go-Ahead is making an important contribution to the modernisation and expansion of local public transport in Baden-Württemberg.
You can find more detailed information concerning the main focus areas of the training, the requirements for candidates and future perspectives in our German-language Vacancies section: Train driver traineeship.
